At Papakidz, formal assessments are conducted from 2 to 6 times per year, based on child’s needs and age. These developmental screening not only help parents to understand where their child is in his or her development, but also what areas can be strengthened. We incorporate both informal and standardized assessments during the year, as well as noting the individuality of each child relative to his or her own progress. These assessments guide us, in developing our curriculum so that it matches the needs of the children in the class. Teachers’ observations of a child reflect the child’s growth and needs, both as an individual and as part of a group. If we have a concern about your child’s development, a meeting is required regardless of age. Meetings may also be requested at other times by either parents or teachers as the need arises.
Our Approach to Learning
In order to provide our students with a high quality, forward-looking educational experience, our learning process and goals embrace the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) framework, with further enrichment in STEAM activities.
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is an internationally-minded, thematic, cross-curricular and rigorous teaching structure used in more than 50 countries. It is recognised worldwide, making it a comprehensive and future-oriented global curriculum programme aimed at children growing up in the 21st Century. The Curriculum Framework of our school integrates six learning areas to ensure a balanced education and a strong foundation for each child. This power of six includes: Language Arts, Numeracy, Sciences, Socio-emotional, Creative Arts and Motor Skills.
How is our Curriculum taught ?
Our curriculum is taught in a thematic way in which subject areas such as History, Geography, Information & Communication Technology, Science and Physical Education are combined into a unit. Each unit has a title and a number of activities designed to link to literacy and numeracy, and appeal to the children. Learning targets for each subject are clearly identified within each unit.
Each units has a title and incorporates most of the core subjects including science, history, geography, ICT, Art and physical education, and provides many opportunities to incorporate literacy and numeracy. Subjects are only included into each theme if there is a direct link between the required learning and the ideas behind the theme. Each subject then has a number of learning tasks to help teachers to help their children meet a range of learning goals set out in the curriculum.
Students are taught to become stakeholders in their own learning process. Our teachers encourage students to inquire, question and resource information competently to find solutions or answers on their own. The curriculum also provides modern teaching methods for delivery of the unit.

What is STEAM ?
For many years, there has been a push in education for the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Employers, researchers, and educators have long sounded the alarm that the workforce is underprepared for the jobs of the 21st Century. As a result, schools have been striving to enhance the knowledge and skills of tomorrow’s employees in these lucrative, important fields.
In recent years, it has been recognized that without creativity and innovation, and without beauty, the STEM fields are static. Knowledge of the facts, figures, and functions of the STEM fields can only go so far. We must make new discoveries, learn new things, develop new ideas, and innovate in order to progress.
Moreover, 21st Century jobs require creativity, innovation, problem solving, and critical thinking. When memorization of facts, figures, and functions come at the cost of creativity, children suffer in the short-term, which ultimately impacts the future workforce.
Integrating STEM with the arts lays a solid foundation for innovative thinking for the inventors and innovators, and scholars of the future.

English everyday !
Interwoven throughout our day, is our English program. Embedded into all areas of our curriculum, children are immersed in conversational English, music, and hands on, discovery-based activities to foster the love for the English language.
Research suggests that taking advantage of our innate abilities to learn languages at an early age with ease, opens up a world of opportunity for children.
They will be more flexible at learning other languages and adept at imitating sounds, creating the opportunity for speech that is free of foreign accent. Also, a foreign or second language in early childhood produces higher cognitive function and better communication skills.
Native English Teachers
At Papakidz, we aim to provide high quality teaching with a trained team of native english speaking teachers, to better guide and aid your children, on the way to success with English.
Native English speakers have a better command of idiomatic language that you just can’t teach in a natural way if English is not your native language. They almost always have a wider and more expressive vocabulary. They feel more comfortable with the language and can use it in a dynamic and playful way, more than a non-native ever could.
Native speaking teachers often demonstrate very different teaching techniques which are better accepted by the students than if a non-native were to use them.
Students also generally feel more comfortable speaking in class when their teacher is a native speaker. The fact that the teacher is a native speaker acts as an unconscious trigger for our students. Our young learners also are motivated by the thought that the accent is genuine and hope to pronounce as well as their teacher !

Papakidz preschool create a classroom environment conductive to learning with spacious, open spaces and with ample natural lights. Our students can also enjoy a separate STEAM lab and a multifunctional play area of more than 500 m2, to guarantee fun and diverse educational experiences, regardless the weather conditions. Our large infrastructure and well-thought out learning spaces, allow us to comfortably accommodate 10 to 20 students per classroom, depending on the children’s ages.
